Thinking About Hiring A DJ?

A DJ is a person who chooses songs carefully based on the crowd he or she is entertaining. If you are a "control freak" in terms of music, and want to send the DJ a LONG list of songs that MUST BE PLAYED in order, consider renting a PA system and loading your list into an MP3 player. You do not really need to hire a DJ to play a list of songs verbatim. Also, if you want only soft jazz music in the background, for example, a compilation CD and a boom-box can sometimes be the better option.

When specifying the songs and/or genres that you want your DJ to play, remember that people dance to music they know and have heard before. As much as we respect a diverse taste in music, a wedding reception or dance is not the time to showcase your obscure taste in music. Experienced DJs have the necessary expertise to select music that will allow the crowd to have the most fun on the dance floor. Also, if you limit the DJ to too small of allowed music, this can result in an inability to entertain the crowd.

In weddings, the DJ is also tasked with officiating the flow of events at the reception. A good DJ should always be keeping the photographers and videographers in step with the reception timeline, checking with caterers, lining up the bridal party when it's time to enter, and generally officiating the reception so that it flows smoothly. Even if you have a wedding coordinator, details about your reception need to be discussed directly with the DJ.

We, in particular, are most experienced with events where there is dancing, especially wedding receptions. We are most experienced with country music. If you do not want ANY country music at all, please consider hiring one of our competitors. If you want primarily country, please consider us as one of the best in Texas. Of course, we do have a VERY large music collection and are familiar with playing many genres for diverse audiences. We strive to not be cheesy, and consider that part of what we are known for doing well. We aim to play music that everyone knows, but avoid extremely cliché songs (like the YMCA, Macarena, etc.). We love to hear "Wow, it’s been so long since I've hear this song!" as more guests are headed to the dance floor.

If you do not like to dance, please let us know that BEFORE your wedding day, or please consider looking for another DJ service.
